With even more fake impeachment news set to take over this week’s news cycle, it’s starting to look as though the Democrat’s plan may be backfiring.
Although it’s still unclear what the Democrat’s long term plan is with these constant hearings, one thing is for sure. They were hoping one of the side effects would be a type of “Trump fatigue” among moderate Republicans and independent voters. The goal was to make voters who more or less were fine with Trump but not loyal to him to become so tired of the non-stop Trump talk dominating the news that they would simply want someone else in the White House just so things could go back to being “normal”.
Of course, “normal” in this context just means fake propaganda news and a President who acts as a puppet controlled by deep state forces. But based on almost all available metrics, voters are instead getting impeachment fatigue, not Trump fatigue.
The non-stop drone of impeachment has caused many voters to simply tune out. The convoluted and hard to follow narrative of tapped phone calls, Ukrainian dealings involving a myriad of people, and CIA secret whistleblowers has left independent voters thinking this is more mirage than reality.
Reporting by the New York Times confirms this as a recent story titled “No One Believes Anything’: Voters Worn Out by a Fog of Political News.” The story chronicles how many voters have simply tuned out and don’t believe the impeachment coverage anymore.
Below is a small excerpt from the piece.
“…Mr. Trudell, a registered independent, stopped paying attention to national news about a year ago. He found it toxic and mentally taxing, and it started arguments that had no end. He decided to focus instead on local and state-level politics.”
What is being described here is media induced impeachment fatigue. People are simply tuning out, and they’re tuning out because they don’t believe it. If they truly believed there was substance to any of it, they would not be tuning out in huge numbers. Their gut instincts tell them it’s all fake.
Next we have reporting showing that independents are not only tuning out, they’re angry that Democrats are focusing so much on impeachment. In a Vanity Fair piece, exclusive polling shows independents are very angry at the focus on impeachment instead of issues they feel are actually important.
By massive margins, Independents say that the impeachment issue is “more important to politicians than it is to me” (62% to 22%) and “more important to the media than it is to me” (61% to 23%). It is hard to read this as anything but a warning to the Democratic leadership and candidates: Stop talking about issues that matter to you, not to me.
So as you can see, independents by a huge margin see impeachment proceedings as nothing more than political theater for the anti-Trump crowd and not anything even related to moving the country forward or addressing the concerns of real voters.
It’s becoming clear that impeachment fatigue indeed is real. It’s showing up in polling and it’s coming directly from the mouths of independents who have heard enough. But it seems that the Democratic establishment is once again so stuck in their own echo chamber that they have no idea what’s going on in the heartland of this country.
