Illinois is one of the most poorly managed states in the entire country, with budget shortfalls and a huge debt problem, it would collapse immediately without federal support.
Then of course there is the largest city in Illinois, which is Chicago. I’m sure you’re well aware of the aptly nicknamed “Chi-raq” being once again the murder capital of America. Not only that, this past year they broke their own record well before the year was even out.
So with all that being said, what do you think the governor of Illinois or the mayor of Chicago would be doing to solve these problems?
If you guessed talk about covid, you’re right!
Yes, instead of dealing with the crime or corruption that’s bankrupting the entire state, they are both learning what many progressive leaders have learned, simply talk about covid and you get a pass on all your other failures.
Mayor of Chicago Lori Lightfoot has made covid her number one talking point. A little late considering we are entering our third year of this debacle, but she was never that smart to begin with so we give her a pass for being late to the party.
She’s declared that the unvaccinated are now her main priority, not the murderers that are running wild and breaking records.
Lightfoot has declared the days of the vaccinated moving freely in Chicago are over.
I guess the murderers will still be allowed to move freely, as long as their vaccinated.
Governor Pritzker of Illinois is only too happy to jump on the bandwagon. Endorsing new mandates throughout the state and in the biggest county known as Cook County, which includes Chicago.
Starting today, Cook County businesses are closed to any unvaccinated residents, including everyone 5 years-old and above. Yes, a 5 year-old can’t even go into a restaurant in Cook County starting today unless they show their papers.
It’s all a joke, but I don’t have to tell you that. Sadly, you’ve seen this for two years now, and politicians have fallen in love with the pandemic.
The pandemic gives them a free pass on everything. If the DMV is running months behind, the governor blames it on the pandemic. City is broke? The mayor blames it on the pandemic.
Everything can easily be blamed on the covid, and the unvaccinated.
But what this does is set up a situation where these politicians never truly want the pandemic to end. If it does, they lose their giant distraction.
That’s the big problem we have right now. The pandemic is helping so many politicians and making so many people rich, it may never go away for that reason alone. Just with vaccines and testing we are soon going to approach a trillion dollar industry. You think the people raking in that money will let it go?
I doubt it, and with politicians happy to have the pandemic here to blame all their problems on, don’t expect it to go away anytime soon.
